Rimaldas Vikšraitis: AT THE EDGE OF THE KNOWN WORLD

Without boots you couldn´t enter the world that Rimaldas Vikšraitis photographed over a period of more than three decades. The Lithuanian photographer lived in or visited little villages deep in Lithuania, where life was marked by poverty, alcoholism, promiscuity and uprooting. His images are illustrating unfiltered glimpses into the essence of small village life. These photographs highlight it´s hardships and the pain, but also about unexpected and deep friendship and joy.
After being nominated by Martin Parr Rimaldas Vikšraitis won the famous Discovery Award of the Arles photo festival in 2009. Since then his photographs are shown worldwide. We are happy to be the first to present this wonderful artist in Germany in his so far biggest show.
