HIJACKED 2
AUSTRALIA - GERMANY
20.05. - 26.08.2012
Hijacked 2 was inaugurated in 2010 at the Australian Centre of Photography, Sydney (ACP) and travelled to Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. The exhibition presents a broad selection of different photographic approaches, which reflect the national traditions dealing with the medium photography and introduce the work of 32 contemporary German and Australian photographers with a focus on the depiction and representation of the young, the boundary-riding and fringe-dwelling.
With their selection of works Mark McPherson, Ute Noll and Markus Schaden, the curators of the exhibition, offer an inspiring perspective on Australian and German photography which seems not to be academically restrained, institutionally influenced or embedded in heavy-handed curatorial work. Hijacked 2 therefore becomes a lively and valid survey of the current photographic movements in Australia and Germany. We are pleased to present this fascinating comparison of Austalian and German photography for he first time in Germany.
Hijacked II is presented in Australia and Germany in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut Australien.
